Watermelon
Another highlight on every buffet for a christening or baby shower is definitely this adorable pram. It was carved out of a watermelon and filled with fruit salad. You will need the following things (source: www.watermelon.org):
and this is how it works:
Just about any watermelon will do for this fancy idea.
Cut a thin slice from the bottom of the melon so that it rests securely.
Draw the outlines of the areas to be cut out as accurately as possible.
Use a sharp knife to cut out the part that will later serve as a handle. Cut completely through the solid shell.
Now cut out the decorated edges of the pram with a sharp knife.
Carefully remove the now loose lid.
Hollow out the pram thoroughly and secure the handle with toothpicks.
Pin the wheels made of orange slices with the toothpicks as well and decorate them with thin slices of kiwi and strawberry.
Fill the pram with fruit salad.
